Why I decided to Blog; and How I Started

Welcome to my first official post! The reason I am starting with this topic is because while anyone can read my About Red section that doesn’t quite capture the essence and the reasoning behind why I started this whole project. First off, one thing my readers should know about me is I am a total over sharer. There is a fine line between TMI and blogging, but I think everyone online has the opportunity to share their beliefs and experiences and if you are provided the space and respect others the way you expect them to respect then you can utilize you space to create meaningful work. And just so you know I might be on the side of over sharing. Self-disclosures aside I wanted to share my love for life with anyone looking for an adventure of their own. The intention behind my blog is to provide raw and honest experiences for people who want the bare bones of traveling and lifestyle. I am by no means a professional and thus far I do not receive free or sponsored products, but I will tell you what I have found helpful and necessary, or not. Aside from that, it is just wanderlust and me. That also being said there are many people in my life who make this possible and without their support I would not be able to enjoy the experiences I have the opportunity for today. I did not quit my job, yet, and I work a lot between trips so I can continue to travel. I accrue small amounts of the thing I need and want to test for travels and through out my journeys I plan to review those items and post them in an upcoming section dedicated to product reviews. If you ever have questions or suggestions please let me know! I want to be interactive with my readers and I love to hear about others experiences.

As I sit on the first leg of my flight I have a rush of thoughts through my head. I am questioning all of my decisions and starting to grapple with the questions I have been long avoiding. I feel like its too soon to jump into those but I will start with what this trip means to me. Like every human I have had my share of struggles. This trip to South East Asia is unique to my experience because I have scheduled this trip a total of three times and still never stepped foot on the plane. I have travelled abroad many a times but for some reason this trip has been a one that has slipped through my fingers. Both of my trips have been cancelled just days before departure due to family tragedies and earlier this year due to an emergency surgery of my own. The last couple weeks leading up to this trip have been emotional as I battled being sick once again and had discussions and concerns of yet another surgery, but with the go ahead and on the mend, I made it to Portland International and needless to say I am more excited than ever. My first lesson on this, patience, which I obviously struggle with. I never thought I would be doing this alone and yet here I am seat 32 D and on my way, knowing now that this is the time I am meant to be here.

So why blog? Well simply put because when I have the opportunity to see my friends and others succeed it inspires me to reach for my dreams to put

what I hold dear front and center in my own life. It keeps me grounded, and it keeps me going. If I can reach others the way so many people have reached me then I will have done one thing right. Its for the love of travel, for the love of culture, and for the love of people.

Lesson of Time – Karma

When a bird is alive, it eats ants. When the bird is dead, Ants eat the bird. Time and circumstances can change at any time. Don’t devalue or hurt anyone in your life. You may be powerful today, but remember time is more powerful than you! One tree makes a million match sticks. Only one match stick needed to burn a million trees. So be good and do good cause you’ll never know what will happen.
